Psychometrics involves the use of
questions covering a range of categories to gauge,
among other things, aspects of a person's personality
that might not be attained in conventional ways. The
advantages of applying this to the recruitment process
are obvious, a valuable insight into, and a more accurate
profile of the character of your candidates.
The usefulness of psychometric testing is often underestimated
by many employers who see it as being relevant only
in selection. However, tests have been developed for
many purposes, e.g. job diagnosis, analysing team
performance, profiling employees to identify needs,
integrity, honesty etc. The tests are reliable, impartial
and not subject to the vagaries of human decision-making.
They represent a cost-effective means of reducing
the number of applicants to the few that warrant methods
of selection such as structured interviews and group
exercises.
GAAPS provides advice on the use of psychometric tests
and a full testing service. GAAPS retains qualified
occupational psychologists in its staff.
